made of metal
for urban squares or home gardens
As individual as the requirements in the public space, as diverse are our benches for street furniture: with open or closed body, straight or round, with backrest, side rest or completely without, made of the different materials Corten steel, stainless steel or color-coated, with bench seat cover made of wood, natural fibers or with warming plastic coating, with lighting…
What all our metal benches have in common is that their materials and construction are designed to last. In addition, they can be easily adapted to the individual requirements of the builders – e.g. length, width and equipment. This is possible because Gartenmetall® designs, constructs and manufactures all garden benches and seating furniture for urban areas itself.
With the shapely and elegant metal benches from Gartenmetall® they can bring more quality of stay into city centers, parks and squares and thus connect people with each other. Ask for your individual offer: Contact

Technology and options
We have almost perfected the technical details of the benches thanks to our many years of experience. Seat cushions are screwed from below, backrests are made to match the design of the bench, and the integrated lighting puts everything in the right light.
Each bench should be stable and secure to the ground. Several variants are conceivable: with lugs for screwing tight or make the bench so heavy that it is almost impossible to move it without tools. If the substructure is made as a volume of metal, filling it with sand or moraine gravel is a good way to increase the weight and, consequently, the stability. When integrating in the floor, pay attention to the seat height and increase if necessary when ordering!
The seat supports are screwed from below with a stainless steel cross batten, so that no fastening screws are visible from above and laterally in the wood. The complete seat is screwed onto the substructure with screws between the seat pads. Thus, accessibility is possible at any time in case of maintenance. Screwing into the wood from below can also be done with the high-quality Gartenmetall® LOCK system. This particularly stable technology has been statically proven with its own approval (ETA 11/0212 of 12.10.2016).
Backrests for benches (option)
Backrests extend the stool bench to a real bench and are the basis for relaxed sitting. Height: approx. 350 mm, leaning angle approx. 20°. The length of the backrests can be freely determined independently of the length of the seat support. A possible asymmetry often gives the seating element that special “kick”. Maximum distance between two holders depends on material and cross section. In most cases, it is < 1 meter. The holders are included in the price per meter.
Integrated lighting (option)
The benches can be staged in an atmospheric way. There are two options for this: For benches with a solid base, the LED light bar can be installed on the long side of the solid body. Distance to the corner in each case 250 mm. For benches with open body, the light strip will also be mounted under the seat support.
for the public space
Our benches have various standard dimensions, which have proven themselves well in practice. Most benches have a comfortable seat height of 475 mm and a seat depth of 490 mm. More detailed information can be found in our product info, where you will also find a checklist as a planning aid.
However, since we manufacture all benches ourselves, special dimensions are no problem. Ask our customer advisors about this: Contact
The bench length is determined by the length of the front edge. It may differ from the length of the seat supports due to their design.
There is no official standard for the height of the benches. We recommend a seat height of 420 mm to 490 mm in public areas. By default, our benches are designed with a seat height of 475 mm. This also makes it easier for seniors to get up. If the bench is to be fixed in the floor, the legs must be extended accordingly.
The seat depth should be at least 400 mm for benches with backrests. For stool benches, the depth can be extended to more than 500 mm. In practice, 490 mm has proven to be the typical seat depth.
In the case of round benches, the inner and outer diameters are specified as measurements, and in some cases the length of the front edge and the opening angle are also specified. This requires the information whether the leading edge in the radius is outside or inside.
Island for sitting and lying
as a special bank
In the middle of the Nürtingen schoolyard, a seven-meter-long and three-meter-wide seating and lounging island invites you to relax.
The base of the large pedestal is made of Corten steel, while the seat cover is made of the weather-resistant and durable natural fiber composite RESYSTA®. The support was mounted as a complete package on the base, so no screws are visible. This minimizes the risk of injury and prevents vandalism.
