Gartenmetall® is a family-owned company. Our office and our plant is in Nürtingen near Stuttgart. With more than 80 employees we develop, plan, design, test and produce various garden metal objects – all “100% made in Germany“.
Every year during the winter months February and March we offer one-day seminars regarding the use of metal in garden design, landscape management and urban planning. We offer these seminars about products, materials and beyond in different places all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria. For our customers they are free of charge.
We have different staff members for order acceptance, tender preparation, order processing and payment process. Nonetheless we guarantee a smooth operation.
We are always there for you except during the days between a few days before Christmas and the weekend after the 6th January as well as the non-working public holidays in Baden-Württemberg.
Because of our own production and construction we have the possibility to produce everything like our customers need it. In practice more than 50% of our garden objects and street furniture is customized, at least concerning the sizes required on site. Often it is “only” size adjustments to the conditions on site. Our extensive catalogue offers you ideas and inspirations about the many options. Exactly this flexibility to act according to your wishes is what makes us so unique compared to our competitors.

Order and order confirmation
We produce most orders on an individual basis. When there is any misunderstanding (e.g. when sizes are mixed up like the height and width of planters), it is annoying for all parties concerned. That is why we only accept written orders.

Design Drawing
For every individual project we create a detailed design drawing and – in case of bigger projects – coordinate it with the customers as part of the release process. The creation of the construction material is very time-consuming and the drawings include all the details needed for production. That is why the design drawings can only be handed out when the contract is concluded.
Please confirm the release in written form by e-mail or fax.
For laser beam cutting we need a linear file, which can be read by CAD-programs. The best-known representatives are so-called dxf-files. With corresponding software and craftsmanship these files can be generated from pdf-, jpg-, tif- or eps-files. The target price for this is 90.00 €/file plus VAT.
A picture is worth a thousand words: Even the simplest hand-drawn sketches help our sales team to better understand your ideas and expectations and to avoid misunderstandings.

Collection / delivery
In most cases the delivery is done by a forwarding agent. You will get an information as soon as the products are handed over to the forwarding agent. We always instruct the shipping company to have the driver contact you before delivery. We know from experience that this agreement is unfortunately not always adhered to. For deliveries with sizes up to 2.5 m, delivery is usually made by truck with loading ramp. For larger deliveries a forklift truck is necessary for unloading. If there is no one on site it is possible to order one with a more expensive special vehicle. Always check the product upon delivery to make sure that there are no damages in transit.
On prior notice you can also pick the objects up at our plant in Nürtingen. The shipping department is there for you from Mondays to Fridays from 7pm until 4pm. Please note that depending on the goods, packaging costs for pallets etc. may also be incurred on collection.

With bigger deliveries or heavier objects a forklift is necessary. If no one is on site, you have the possibility to order a more expensive special vehicle. Alternatively the objects can be delivered to a nearby company. Depending on the individual weight of the delivered elements, unloading by hand is also conceivable.

The garden objects and street furniture have a big volume and have to be packaged extensively, so that there is no damage in tranit. In some cases the costs for packaging and shipping might sum up to more than 30%. It is not possible to deny this fact in the calculation. Therefore – as a reseller – always think about these extra costs and watch out for our calculation in the offer. In every offer we indicate these additional costs for your calculation. Often it is cheaper if you pick the objects up in Nürtingen.

This is done by many local companies in your region which are specialized in the field of garden design, landscape management and urban planning. Material / corten steel
Weatherproof construction steel can be classified as ecological material. It has an over-average product life span, does not need to be varnished and is completely recyclable. Corten steel contains minimal amounts (less than 1%) of high-grade copper and chrome, which make it nearly indefinitely durable and avoids rusting through. These make the material – similar to stainless steel – almost infinitely durable and prevent rusting through. Problems can only occur when normal or cheap construction steel is used in the garden, which is often used for decoration objects from DIY-stores. This kind of construction steel slowly dissolves. In the process, the alloying components copper and nickel are also released and can be ingested by insects, pets and also humans for example. The dissolved oxidation products of steel (= the rust), on the other hand, are harmless and act as fertiliser.
No, we do not offer screws made from corten steel. After fixing them rust would develop in the screw thread and the screws could not be removed again. Therefore we only use screws made from stainless steel or copper.
In recent times simple steel was hot-dip galvanized and then powder-coated. This was described in study books and was called “duplex system”. Up to today this system is sometimes found in tender templates. However, we have made the experience that this method is unsuitable for garden objects with a large surface area: On the one hand, there is always a slight distortion with hot-dip galvanising for objects with a large surface area, which is usually rejected by the building owners. On the other hand, scratches on powder-coated objects for example can hardly be repaired on the construction site.
We at Gartenmetall® have therefore decided to manufacture and paint all elements in durable stainless steel. This is more complex and expensive but the quality and durability are much higher than with the classic duplex system. But the most important thing is: scratches can be quickly and easily repaired on site with the repair paint supplied.
Every color coating can be produced in glossy structure, fine structure or simple structure. However, we have opted for colour-coated surfaces in fine structure as standard. This surface structure has the advantage that it refracts sunlight and does not reflect the objects. In addition for various reasons all large-scale garden objects are never technically perfect in terms of surface area. The textured coating “swallows up” minor unevenness in contrast to the gloss coating.

Water
- In the simplest case, e.g. in smaller well systems, the water is exchanged at regular intervals and replaced with fresh water.
- Adding “Teichklar” (pond clarification) agents or multi-chlorine tablets: These disinfect the water and thus inhibit algae growth. Often a flocculant is also included which supports the separation of suspended matter.
- Installation of a filter and water treatment system: This continuously filters the water and thus prevents algae growth and sludge deposits. Contact a specialist company for this.
Lead-throughs on the water trough are needed to connect e.g. cables, inlet water, overflow standpipe, external pump, drain for emptying, etc. Specifying the exact position on the water trough helps us to tailor the well trough precisely to your needs.
In favour of variant B is the fact that the pump is not visible in the well basin as in variant A and thus does not pose a danger, e.g. for playing children. Furthermore the pump is better protected against vandalism, dirt and frost.
The water outlet can be steplessly regulated by the control valve at the pump.
Yes, this is possible but this has to be written in the order form. The inspection opening can e.g. be installed at either side or at the upper part of the back side.
The fold is necessary for the stability of the water trough, so that the trough does not get deformed when completely filled with water. Furthermore the fold results in rounded edges, so that the risk of injury is clearly reduced. And last but not least the fold can hide the rim of the plastic-coat inside the basin.
There can be an overflow after heavy rain. In that case the water can turn auburn, as the protecting plastic-coating only reaches shortly under the top edges. With an overflow pipe the water can be capped.

Steel edging bands
For stability reasons the tapes should be tied into the ground at least 1/3 to half of their height.
The bendable radius depends on the thickness of the material. As a rule of thumb: For a liner with a thickness of 3 mm, an arc radius of > 3 m can be bent, for a liner thickness of 5 mm, an arc with a radius of > 5 m. Exception: With a liner thickness of 2 mm, even a radius > 1.0 m can be bent.
The decision for a thickness is made purely on the basis of appearance as the tapes do not have to fulfil any static task.
The psteel edging bands are not designed as intercepting walls. In order for the restraining force to be transferred to the ground in the case of simple slabs, a significant part must be bound into the ground. In order to build earth retaining walls of 250 mm height and more, the path delimitation strips are therefore no longer sufficient. You will find intelligent and easy-to-assemble solutions in the TERRA PALA earth retaining walls. If you simply want to install steel, you will also find steel plates from 6 mm thick to over 15 mm in any height.

Yes, this is possible, but not on site. You have to dismantle the screen wall and send it to us. We will fix the acrylic rear panel with welding studs and bolt them from inside, so that the connection is stable and without any gap.
Already after 2 to 3 weeks, the formation of the characteristic rust-red patina begins with the change between humid and dry weather. But depending on the weather conditions it takes between 1.5 and 3 years for the barrier layer to fully develop.
