certified pine wood

KEBONY® is a certified pine wood (Pinus sylvestris) which achieves similar good characteristics as tropical hardwoods through an environmentally friendly and patented treatment with furfuryl alcohol. The wood is first impregnated with the bio-alcohol and then dried under heat. In this process the original softwood hardens and the cell walls become 50% thicker.

What makes KEBONY® special?

The chemical and thermal treatment ensures that the wood achieves a degree of hardness on a level with the best tropical woods. The impregnation also makes the natural material very form-stable and resistant to rotting, fungal decay and other wood-decomposing microorganisms and it hardly splinters at all. KEBONY® seat coverings have a dark brown colour and develop a silver-grey patina with time. We only use the particularly high-quality KEBONY® CLEAR quality without inclusions for the seat covers. According to the manufacturers, the outdoor lifetime of KEBONY® is over 30 years (source:

KEBONY® surface care

KEBONY® wood is very easy to care for and needs no further treatment – apart from normal cleaning with a broom or brush and water.

To remove dirt, sand and other dirt particles, we recommend sweeping with a hand brush or cleaning with a brush and water. Harder stains can be removed with a brush, water and normal household cleaning products.

Ecologically safe real wood

KEBONY® is made from certified wood which is pressure-treated with sustainably sourced bio-alcohol: This is produced during sugar and corn production. The wood is therefore environmentally friendly in production and contains no toxins or harmful chemicals. This means that it is not subject to the European Pesticide Regulation and can be easily recycled like any other untreated wood.

Dimensions of the KEBONY® rests

The wood cannot be planed because this would expose untreated heartwood. The choice of cross-sections is therefore limited. We offer the following standard dimensions:

Standard dimensions:

  • 22 mm x 120 mm
  • 22 mm x 142 mm
  • 38 mm x 140 mm
